Happy Mother’s Day

To the moms who cheer their kids through OT, PT, SL, mental health care and other therapists.

To the moms whose kids don’t use words to say I love you, and yet you feel it all the same.

To the moms fighting for support and inclusion at school, camp, social events and beyond.

To the moms fielding the many options from family members, friends, and perfect strangers during a meltdown moment.

To the moms of sensory seekers and avoiders - who work tirelessly to see a sensory environment through their child’s eyes/ears/body.

To the moms who can feel the heart ache and the joys of social situations. Who carry the hope each school year, play date, and birthday party that their child will be seen for how great they are and understood by their peers.

To the moms who have learned all they can about their child’s joy points and areas of interest.

To the moms who do the research, talk to the doctors, the neuropsychologist, the therapist - and follow most importantly their intuition to understand their child’s neurotype, essentially when it differs from their own.

To the moms who do their own inner work and therapy for patience and healing.

To the moms who feel like their parenting journey is overlooked, forgotten, or over simplified with a “you’re so strong, I don’t know how you do it.”

We see you and we are here with you. We know your children have so many strengths and there are many many points of joy in parenting. We also want to give space every day parenting realities of parenting a neurodivergent child. Your kids matter to us, as do you. Happy mother’s day.

Love,
